At The Summit, the biggest draw is the hockey. The Hockey industry in the Michigan has always been one of the biggest leaders in the nation since its’ creation. Hockey in general has grown rapidly in America, becoming one of the most popular sports over the more recent years.

If someone is looking at the competition at a state level, there is way too much to keep track of. However, in the Lansing area there is really one major competitor. Suburban Ice in East Lansing is the only other fully public rink in the area. It is a newer facility and has better funding, but they still have the same number of ice surfaces as The Summit.

The amount of youth programs in the Lansing area have skyrocketed in the last 5 years, making Lansing one of the best cities to bring your kids to play in Michigan. That being said, there is not any way that all of these teams could play out of one rink. So depending on how the organization is set up determines where a team will play which is how the customers will get drawn in.
